Harakeke exhibition event - dying muka
Join artist Dr Richard Cooper for a talk about the tools and methods used to dye harakeke. Dr Cooper is an artist and expert in Aotearoa’s traditional arts. He will discuss how muka (harakeke fibre) was dyed using hot stones in a kumete (pictured).
Weaver Annie AhMu will also give a demonstration on how to extract muka from the harakeke leaves.
