'Tangled Roots' Launch Event
Join us for music, games, workshops and a first public appearance by 'Grassman' as we celebrate the opening of our summer exhibition Tangled Roots.
The exhibition explores how grasses have shaped people (and the planet) more than any other family of plants. From our daily bread to our sporting surfaces grasses have shaped the way we live, eat and play.
The launch event will feature the first public appearance of Grassman, a living personification of grasses and nature from UK artist Ashley Peevor. We've been growing this yeti-like mythological creature out of grass in our nursery ready to come to life for the launch of the exhibition.
There will also be a live performance of bamboo angklug instruments by the Sabilulungan Family Auckland, a ‘make your own grass friend’ workshop, grounded mindfulness sessions and lawn games.
Join us as we celebrate nature and explore our how grasses and culture are deeply entwined.
