What is a discretionary event?
- Any event where you are wanting to bring infrastructure into the Gardens, may require a permit (depending on size and type of infrastructure)
- Infrastructure may include things such as marquees, large tents, or bouncy castles
- Botanic Gardens will assess all request on an individual basis and management have the right to determine fees and refuse any application
- Additional fees may be charged for use of open space areas over the cost of the non-refundable permit
What do I need to do for my discretionary event Requirements?
- Application & permit process (4 weeks to complete process)
- You will be required to complete an application form that outlines your event.
- An Event Overview plan will be required from the organiser/s (including things such as infrastructure, waste management, traffic management)
- A Health and Safety plan is required from the organiser/s
- Botanic Gardens will assess the application, event and H&S plan for suitability of the event being held at the Botanic Gardens
- Once approved a permit will be drawn up with terms and conditions. This will need to be signed by the Botanic Gardens and the organiser/s of the event
- Once the permit has been signed and returned full payment will be required to confirm the booking
Booking enquiry and costs
- To make an enquiry, contact the team via email; botanic.gardens@aucklandcouncil.govt.nzwith an overview of your event. They will then walk you through the event process and information required to ensure you have covered all health and safety needs for your event and issue the event permit.
- Costs will be allocated according to the site use, building use, environmental impact on the gardens and other visitors enjoyment of the various gardens.
- There will be a non-refundable $95 permit fee
